Abstract

Zusammenfassung In einem Beitrag zur ersten und zweiten Auflage des Staatslexikons von 1834 und 1845 zum Stichwort „Arbeit“ nahm Friedrich List grundlegend zur physischen Unterdrückung des Menschen durch die geknechtete Abhängigkeit Stellung. Im Naturzustand erscheine dem Menschen die beschwerliche körperliche Arbeit überall als ein Übel. Daher rühre auch die unterwürfige und dienende Stellung der Kinder und Frauen in patriarchalischen Gesellschaften, daher die Sklaverei, die Kasteneinteilung und die Anmaßung von Vorrechten, wie sie während der Leibeigenschaft in früherer Zeit und bis in die damalige Gegenwart hinein gang und gäbe waren.
