Abstract

Zusammenfassung „Er hatte das unbequeme Talent wahrhaftig zu sein auch dort, wo es sich empfahl Vorsicht walten zu lassen. So geht er durch die Zeit; es ist, als ob in den Lavendelduft des Biedermeier sein Wesen wie ein unbekümmert frischer Wind von der Rauen Alb hineinbraust.“ Diese Worte finden sich in der Gedenkrede, die sein Landsmann Theodor Heuss, in seiner Gedenkrede zum 100. Todestag von Friedrich List am 30.1.1946 in der damaligen „Friedrich List-Halle“ in Reutlingen gesprochen hat. List (1789-1846) ist der erste international renommierte deutsche Klassiker der Politischen Ökonomie. Mit seinem Credo „Durch Wohlstand zur Freiheit“ wurde er zum Vordenker der „Sozialen Marktwirtschaft“ und als Eisenbahnpionier zum Nestor der deutschen Verkehrswirtschaft. Ideen- und zeitgeschichtlich bildet List die polare Mitte zwischen Adam Smith (1723-1790) und Karl Marx (1818-1883).
