Abstract

Zusammenfassung Low-Code ist ein allgegenwärtiges Schlagwort im Kontext von Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Dabei handelt es sich um eine vereinfachte Entwicklung von Software zum Beispiel mit grafischen Modellierungswerkzeugen, um eine aufwendige Programmierung mit textbasierten Programmiersprachen zu vermeiden. Der Low-Code-Ansatz ist ein wesentliches Verkaufsargument der RPA-Anbieter: Der Entfall intensiver Programmierung spart Zeit und eröffnet Möglichkeiten der Software-Entwicklung für neue Nutzergruppen, die keine tiefen Programmierkenntnisse haben. Der Low-Code-Ansatz hat die Verbreitung von RPA-Software zur Prozessautomatisierung stark gefördert. Dieser Beitrag erörtert zum einen die Unterschiede zwischen Low-Code und Scripting bzw. Pro-Code, zum anderen die Relevanz dieser Unterscheidung für die Entwicklung von RPA-Lösungen. Insbesondere wird beleuchtet, wie Pro-Code die Entwicklung von Software-Robotern unterstützen kann, selbst wenn keine vorherige Programmiererfahrung beim Nutzer vorliegt. Dieser Beitrag verdeutlicht dies am Beispiel des Zusammenwirkens der RPA-Lösungen Blue Prism und Microsoft Power Automate mit SAP und Microsoft Excel.
