Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel werden die Grundlagen besprochen, um eine gemeinsame Verständnisbasis zu schaffen. Dabei stehen folgende Themen im Vordergrund: Es werden die Hauptcharakteristiken von Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologien aufgezeigt, die Funktionsweise dieser Technologie beschrieben und die verschiedenen Blockchain Typen besprochen. Das Kapitel gibt weiter eine (sehr) kurze Einführung in Bitcoin als erste Blockchain-Anwendung. Aufgrund der grossen Bedeutung von Ethereum für die Welt digitaler Vermögenswerte, wird ein Fokus auf die Funktionsweise dieser Blockchain-Plattform gelegt. Es wird beschrieben, was Smart Contracts sind, wie diese bedient werden können und wie die weiteren Entwicklungsschritte von Ethereum aussehen. Das Kapitel zeigt zudem auf, wie mittels Blockchain ein neues Identitätsmodell geschaffen wird.
