Abstract

Zusammenfassung Polizeiliche Einsatzlagen passieren nicht im luftleeren Raum, sondern werden von einer medialen Öffentlichkeit begleitet. Dabei zeigt sich diese Öffentlichkeit häufig als ein schwer zu durchschauendes Durcheinander von Echokammern, Fake News, Journalismus, Social Media und rasanten Aufmerksamkeitsökonomien, aber auch von der polizeilichen Verpflichtung, das eigene Handeln zu erklären und das Sicherheitsgefühl in der Bevölkerung medial zu unterstützen. Diese Gemengelage wird gerade in Versammlungslagen zu einer Herausforderung für die Polizei, wenn in Echtzeit medial über die Deutungshoheit gestritten wird, wie sich die Lage entfaltet. Wie sich polizeiliche Öffentlichkeitsarbeit in dieser medialen Lage positionieren kann, ist Frage und Gegenstand dieses Beitrags.
