Abstract

Zusammenfassung Schon in der Westlichen Han sagte Sima Qian in seinen „Aufzeichnungen eines großen Historikers“: „Wenn ein armer Mann reich werden will, ist es besser, ein Handwerker als ein Bauer zu sein, besser ein Kaufmann als ein Handwerker“. Und mit der ungewöhnlichen Expansion des Handels in der Ming-Dynastie, insbesondere während der mittleren und späten Ming-Periode, wuchs die Verbrauchernachfrage, der In- und Auslandsmarkt vergrößerte sich und Handelsgruppen kamen auf. Unterdessen stieg die Zahl der Menschen, die die Landwirtschaft und das konfuzianische Studium aufgegeben hatten, allmählich an. Dies scheint, wie sich auch im Denken niederschlägt, eine Änderung der traditionellen Theorie der vier Berufsgruppen zu sein, die erstmals in Guanzi vorgebracht wurde. Hat sich der Status der Kaufleute in der Ming-Dynastie im Vergleich zu den anderen drei Berufen wesentlich verbessert, insbesondere in der mittleren und späten Ming-Zeit? Dies soll in diesem Kapitel analysiert werden.
