Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im Jahr 2020 wurden die Krankenhäuser durch die Corona-Pandemie relativ unerwartet auf eine große Belastungsprobe gestellt. Pandemische Vorbereitungen in der Breite existierten nur wenige; ein bis dato unbekanntes Krankheitsbild wurde schnell zur großen Herausforderung. In diesem sehr dynamischen Umfeld war es notwendig, ungewohnte Probleme schnell, sicher und oftmals pragmatisch zu lösen. Knappheit an Schutzausrüstung oder Medikamenten sowie ein durch Krankheits- und Quarantäneausfall verstärkter Personalmangel waren tägliche Herausforderungen für eine sichere Patientenversorgung. Dieser Beitrag stellt mögliche Bewältigungsstrategien für verschiedene Krankenhausbereiche vor und bietet Diskussionsgrundlagen sowie mögliche Lösungsansätze. Letztlich wird versucht, anhand von vier Säulen der Patientensicherheit zu Pandemiezeiten Zukunftsstrategien für Krankenhäuser zu erarbeiten. Oberstes Ziel dieser Maßnahmen soll dabei ein pandemievorbereitetes Krankenhaus sein.
