Abstract

Zusammenfassung Spätestens seitdem die Kursausschläge des Bitcoin Thema in der Tagespresse sind, ist die Blockchain-Technologie in aller Munde. Veröffentlichungen wie der Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, der jährlich vom amerikanisschen Marktforschungs- und Beratungsunternehmen Gartner herausgegeben wird, verstärken das Interesse an dieser noch relativ jungen Technologie. Erstmals wurde die Blockchain-Technologie im Jahr 2016 von Gartner in den Hype Cycle aufgenommen und in die Phase, Gipfel überzogener Erwartungen, eingeordnet. Beim Hype-Zyklus von Gartner handelt es sich um ein Modell, das Technologien anhand eines Verlaufs an Erwartungen einordnet (Gartner Research, 2021). Auch im spezifischen Hype-Cycle für das Supply Chain Management des Jahres 2020 befindet sich die Blockchain (kurz: BC) in der zweiten Phase (Hippold, 2020, o. S).
