Abstract

Zusammenfassung Ein historischer Abriss zeigt auf, wie sich das deutsche Steuerrecht von einem einfachen, verständlichen Verfahren, dem Zehnten, zu einem kaum noch beherrschbaren, undurchschaubaren Bürokratieungetüm entwickelt hat. Nachdem zuerst die Daseinsberechtigung für die heute existierenden Bagatellsteuern in Frage gestellt wird, geraten auch die Schwergewichte unter unseren Steuern wie beispielsweise die Einkommen- oder Umsatzsteuer unter Beschuss. Dies führt zu dem revolutionären Vorschlag, alle bestehenden Steuern abzuschaffen und durch eine einzige Steuer zu ersetzen, die unter der Bezeichnung „Obolus“ das Licht der Steuerwelt erblicken soll.
