Abstract

Zusammenfassung Philanthropie ist nicht länger nur als ein Akt zu verstehen, der vereinzelte Individuen mit sozialen Anliegen verbindet. Heutzutage werden große Teile der Gemeinnützigkeit über philanthropische Instrumente und Methoden abgewickelt, die Philanthropen und Destinatäre verbinden und über die philanthropische Mittel verteilt werden. Im Lauf der Zeit ist die Topografie der Philanthropie immer dichter und diverser geworden, da immer mehr Organisationsformen entstanden sind. Die Entscheidung, die eigene Philanthropie ganz oder teilweise über eine Institution abzuwickeln, und die Wahl der geeigneten Institution sind Teil einer sorgfältigen Abwägung aller Dimensionen des philanthropischen Prismas. Die Wahl des richtigen institutionellen Rahmens ist ein zentrales Element der strategischen Philanthropie, denn die Funktionsweise des Instruments muss auf die Ziele der Geberin abgestimmt sein. Nur wenige Entscheidungen haben mehr Einfluss darauf, ob Frust oder Freude die Philanthropie bestimmen.
