Abstract

Zusammenfassung Bargeld hat in Deutschland trotz verschiedener elektronischer Zahlungsmedien (Kredit-/Geldkarte) immer noch eine bedeutende Funktion. Die Umsetzung der Vierten und Fünften EU-Geldwäscherichtlinie in deutsches Recht hat zu einem stark veränderten Geldwäche-Gesetz (GwG) geführt. Damit verbunden sind eine erhebliche Ausweitung der Regulierungen und eine de facto Beschränkung des Bargeldverkehrs. Insbesondere Kreditinstitute, aber auch bargeldintensive Dienstleister und Händler werden zukünftig erhebliche Prüfauflagen erfüllen müssen. Es findet ein weiterer Schritt in die Richtung “gläserner Bürger” statt.
