Abstract

Zusammenfassung Am 1. Januar 2019 jährte sich die Einführung des Euro zum 20. Mal. Zum 1. Januar 1999 führten 11 Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union (EU) den Euro als Buchgeld (Giralgeld) ein, drei Jahre später folgte das Euro-Bargeld. Seither ist der Euroraum auf 19 Mitgliedstaaten angewachsen. Dieser Band ist eine Bestandsaufnahme, die Funktionsmängel der Euro-Währungsunion aufzeigt. Sie liefert Hintergründe und Zusammenhänge zur Euro-Krise und zur Krisen-Reaktionspolitik, die in der Tagespolitik entweder gar nicht zum Tragen kamen oder schnell vergessen wurden.
