Zielorientiert führen

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Methode Führen mit Zielen, oder auf Englisch Management by Objectives (MbO), hat eine mehr als hundertjährige Entwicklungsgeschichte hinter sich. (Drucker, .The practice of management, Harper & Row, New York, 1954) machte diese Führungsmethode weltweit zugänglich. Detaillierte empirische Belege zur konkreten Formulierung von Zielen ermöglichten 1990 die Zielsetzungstheorie, welche (Locke und Latham, .A theory of goal setting and task performance, Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, 1990) in einem induktiven Vorgehen entwickelt wurde. Sie zeigten eindrücklich, welche empirischen Belege für die Wirksamkeit der Zielsetzungstheorie und damit auch der Führungsmethode MbO existieren, wenn die Anwendung korrekt erfolgt. (Huszczo, G.E. (2010). Tools for Team Excellence: Getting Your Team into High Gear and Keeping it There. Davies-Black.) zeigt eindrücklich auf, dass gemeinsame Ziele ein Erfolgsfaktor von Teams sind. Es ist unbestritten, dass die richtige Anwendung von MbO zu höheren Leistungen und Arbeitsresultaten führt.
