Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wer führt, hat Macht – oder sie bzw. er führt nicht. So könnte man die Wichtigkeit der Macht für das Führen in einem knappen Satz zusammenfassen. Darum ist es auch fast tautologisch zu versuchen, einen Praxisbezug des Themas Macht auf die Führung herzustellen. Das wird im ersten Kapitel «Praxisbezug» gleichwohl versucht. Wer führt, übt Macht aus. Die Praxis dieser Ausübung folgt dabei einer merkwürdigen Logik: Solange man Macht ausübt, ist diese meistens gar nicht als solche präsent – man führt einfach. Explizit wird das Thema Macht oft erst dann, wenn man sie nicht mehr hat – und doch dringend brauchen würde. In solchen Situationen ist es klug und hilfreich, ein breites Repertoire von Machtmitteln zur Verfügung zu haben, die es erlauben, Führung zumindest dem Anspruch nach aufrechtzuerhalten. Dann zahlt es sich aus, sich vorher mit dem Thema Macht so weit auseinandergesetzt zu haben, dass man die Situation treffend analysieren kann («Theoretischer Hintergrund») und über adäquate Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten verfügt, die dabei helfen, Macht so zu nutzen, dass sie tatsächlich nützlich ist («Gestaltungsempfehlungen»). Vielleicht macht es Sinn, sie vorher von ihrem schlechten Ruf befreit zu haben.
