Abstract

Zusammenfassung Labormedizinische und pathologische Untersuchungen stellen teils hoch spezialisierte Leistungen der Gesundheitsversorgung dar, die zentral für verschiedene Leistungserbringer vorgehalten werden. Im Rahmen der epidemiologischen Transition, die auch künftig zunehmende chronische Krankheiten für das deutsche Krankheitspanorama impliziert, kommt diesen Laboreinrichtungen eine steigende Bedeutung zu. Zentrale Organisationsstrukturen resultieren aus dem Grad der Spezialisierung und der Kostenintensität der angebotenen Leistungen. Zudem besteht ein hoher Mangel an medizinischem Personal. Eine zentrale Organisationsstruktur vermeidet daher Ineffizienzen und ermöglicht die Versorgung weiterer Krankenhäuser, die die spezialisierten Einrichtungen nicht selber vorhalten müssen.
