Abstract

Zusammenfassung Hinwendung auf der einen, Abwendung auf der anderen Seite: Wir erleben, wie in der gesamten westlichen Konsumwelt große Bestandteile des Umsatzkuchens im Einzelhandel und in den angrenzenden Sektoren des privaten Konsums umverteilt werden. Die Pandemie hat diesen zuvor schleichenden Trend beschleunigt und sichtbar gemacht. Während traditionelle Nonfood-Warenkörbe vor allem in den Online-Handel umgeschichtet werden, legen Essen und Trinken deutlich zu. Die materiell gut versorgte, aber gleichzeitig gut informierte Konsumgesellschaft verschiebt ihren Fokus zunehmend auf eine nicht-materielle Bedürfnisbefriedigung. Die Einzelhandelsimmobilie wird vor diesem Hintergrund zur Bühne von Gefühlen und Einstellungen, Lifestyle und Gruppenzugehörigkeiten – will sie eine Zukunft haben.
