Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Corona-Pandemie hat vor Augen geführt, was wirklich wichtig ist für unsere Städte: Austausch, Kommunikation, Raum für Begegnung. Nicht wichtig sind hingegen die immer gleichen Filialen internationaler Einzelhandelsketten. Unsere Städte brauchen eine neue Definition der Erdgeschosszone, die sich nicht mehr an Einzelhandel und Umsatz orientiert, sondern an Gemeinwohl und Nutzungsmischung. Damit einher gehen muss eine Absage an die Tradition der Charta von Athen, die die autogerechte Stadt und die strikte Trennung der städtischen Funktionen propagiert hat. Stadtplaner und Projektentwickler sind gefordert, echte Quartiere in der Tradition der gründerzeitlichen Blockstruktur zu entwickeln und dabei nicht auf kurzfristige Rendite, sondern auf langfristigen Stadtnutzen zu setzen.
