Abstract

Zusammenfassung Joseph Alois Schumpeter hat vielfältige Beiträge zur volks- und betriebswirtschaftlichen Innovationsforschung geleistet. Der vorliegende Beitrag umfasst vor allem (aber nicht nur) Schumpeters inhaltliche Beiträge zur Innovationsforschung und seinen methodischen Forschungsansatz. Ebenfalls wird eine Bewertung von Schumpeters wichtigsten Schriften und seiner wissenschaftlichen Gesamtleistung anhand von Urteilen seiner Zeitgenossen und anhand heutiger wissenschaftlicher Qualitätsmaßstäbe vorgenommen. Der Beitrag schließt mit einer Untersuchung von Schumpeters fortgesetzter Wirkung in Volks- und Betriebswirtschaftslehre, belegt anhand von Zitationen seiner Werke und seinen direkten und indirekten Doktoranden. Es zeigt sich insgesamt, dass Schumpeter eine außergewöhnliche wissenschaftliche Lebensleistung erbracht hat, die auch heute siebzig Jahre nach seinem Tod in der Wissenschaft noch rezipiert wird.
