Abstract

Zusammenfassung Produktionstheoretische Überlegungen haben ihren Ursprung in der Volkswirtschaftslehre. Lange Zeit gingen die meisten Ökonomen davon aus, dass sich die Erkenntnisse der volkswirtschaftlichen Produktionstheorie auch auf betriebswirtschaftliche Produktionsverhältnisse übertragen ließen. Erst Ende der 1940er- und Anfang der 1950er-Jahre entwickelte die Betriebswirtschaftslehre eigenständige produktionstheoretische Ansätze mit Schwerpunkt auf industrielle Produktionsverhältnisse. Im Laufe der Jahrzehnte wurde die Produktionstheorie dann in unterschiedliche Richtungen weiterentwickelt. Schwerpunkte dieser Entwicklung bildeten dabei einzelne Dienstleistungsbranchen (z. B. Banken, Versicherungen) sowie eine Verallgemeinerung der Dienstleistungsproduktion, die Informationsverarbeitungsprozesse und die Idee einer entscheidungsorientierten Produktionstheorie.
