Abstract

Zusammenfassung Soziale Ungleichheiten und die maskuline Dominanz gegenüber dem weiblichen Geschlecht stehen bei patriarchalen Strukturen im Vordergrund, was gegenwärtig u. a. mit Diskriminierung und Stigmatisierung gleichgesetzt wird. Dies zeigt sich beispielhaft in der noch immer andauernden Debatte um die „gender pay gap“, dem Verdienstunterscheid zwischen Frauen und Männern sowie den in präskriptiven Rollenbildern zugeschriebenen Aufgaben und Eigenschaften von Frauen. In dem kommenden Kapitel betrachten wir den ehemaligen Status der Frau – der Weiblichkeit – u. a. anhand verschiedener mythologischer und historischer Aspekte, um darzulegen, welcher Wert und welche Kraft Frauen ursprünglich beigemessen wurde und wie sich diese positive Haltung über die Jahrhunderte hinweg derart verändern konnte, dass Frauen heute meist selbst nicht wahrnehmen, welchen kollektiven Restriktionen sie unterworfen sind, da diese Einschränkungen inzwischen als Normalität deklariert werden.
