Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Bevölkerungszahl in Japan beläuft sich aktuell auf rund 125,5 Millionen Menschen, davon sind 66,76 Millionen erwerbstätig. Nur etwa 0,3 % der japanischen Industriebetriebe zählen zu den Großunternehmen mit mehr als 301 Beschäftigten; den Großteil bilden Mittelständische und Kleinbetriebe mit weniger als 300 Mitarbeitern. Rund 70 % aller Erwerbstätigen sind in diesen Betrieben tätig. Infolge eines gesellschaftlichen Strukturwandels nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ist der Anteil der Agrarwirtschaft am Bruttoinlandsprodukt von 9 % (1960) auf 4,8 % (2017) zurückgegangen; dagegen stieg der Anteil der Industrie auf 26,1 % an, der Anteil der öffentlichen und privaten Dienstleistungsbereiche am Bruttoinlandsprodukt liegt bei 67,2 % (Quelle: Statistik von Cabinet Office, Japan 2017)
