Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im 17. Jahrhundert entstanden in England die ersten modernen Banken. In einer modernen Wirtschaft sind Banken in der Lage, durch Kreditvergabe Geld zu schaffen. Durch die Schaffung von Geld wird die Finanzierung von zusätzlichen Investitionen ermöglicht, ohne dass vorher mehr gespart wird. Dies war eine Voraussetzung dafür, dass später im Rahmen der industriellen Revolution Realkapital zum wichtigsten Produktionsfaktor in der wirtschaftlichen Produktion werden konnte. Seither lässt sich die produktive Kapazität der Wirtschaft über Investitionen immer mehr ausdehnen, was ein permanentes Wirtschaftswachstum ermöglicht hat.
