Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im folgenden Beitrag wird polizeiliche Sicherheitsarbeit im ländlichen Raum am Beispiel der Region Wittlager Land vorgestellt. Obwohl sich die objektive Sicherheitslage im Wittlager Land vergleichsweise gut darstellt, ist Sicherheitsarbeit dennoch gefragt und erforderlich. Dabei unterscheiden sich die Erwartungshaltungen und Bedarfe im ländlichen Raum von denen im urbanen Bereich. Deutlich wird, dass Sicherheit und Sicherheitsarbeit breiter gedacht werden muss als Polizeiarbeit. Die Polizei ist nicht alleine für die Herstellung von Sicherheit zuständig. Die polizeiliche Führungsperson ist dabei an der Schnittstelle zwischen den unterschiedlichen und durchaus auch widersprüchlichen Erwartungen der eigenen Organisation, deren Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter sowie zahlreichen externen Akteuren gefordert.
