Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wir leben in einer globalisierten Welt: Informationen, Geld und Menschen bewegen sich rund um den Globus und fortschreitende technologische Entwicklungen machen diese Austauschprozesse noch schneller. Das Phänomen der disruptiven Innovation tritt in diesem Zusammenhang immer häufiger und mit erheblicheren Auswirkungen auf. Wo neue Marktteilnehmer disruptive Entwicklungen als Gelegenheit zur Umsetzung ihrer Ideen betrachten, begreifen etablierte Spieler solche Disruptionen eher als Bedrohung und bemühen sich, ihre bis dato überlegenen Positionen zu schützen. Dies gilt in besonderem Maße für die Energiewirtschaft, die von oligopolistischen Marktstrukturen gekennzeichnet ist. Aus diesem Blickwinkel wird ein Gedankenexperiment von „demokratisierten Plattform-Modellen“ unternommen, welche potenziell in der Lage sind, disruptive Technologien anzuwenden und etablierte Marktstrukturen aufzubrechen.
