Abstract

Zusammenfassung Zahlen sind ein sehr mächtiges Werkzeug; sie spielen überall in unserem modernen Leben eine große Rolle. Auch beim Führen haben Zahlen oft eine wichtige Funktion, obwohl es auch Führungssituationen gibt, die ganz ohne Zahlen auskommen. Aber Zahlen sind nicht ganz so selbsterklärend, wie sie scheinen. Gerade wegen ihrer Mächtigkeit können sie uns die Illusion der Sicherheit vermitteln, auch wenn die Realität dafür keine Basis bietet. Wer mit Zahlen arbeiten und führen will, benötigt nicht nur Grundkenntnisse der Mathematik, sondern auch andere, eher praxisorientierte Kompetenzen im Umgang mit Zahlen. Dazu gehört die Fähigkeit, einfache Abschätzungen durchführen zu können und dabei die richtigen Details wegzulassen. Eine weitere Kompetenz ist der Umgang mit Größenordnungen sowie ein Gefühl für funktionale Zusammenhänge. Schließlich sind bestimmte Grundkenntnisse der Statistik erforderlich, um statistische Aussagen angemessen beurteilen und verwenden zu können.
