Abstract

Zusammenfassung In der ersten Phase der Corona-Pandemie nahm die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) ursprünglich eine Sterblichkeitsrate von 2 % an. Seit der zweiten Märzwoche 2020 rechnete die WHO mit einer Sterblichkeit von über 3 %. Tatsächlich schwankte die Letalität zwischen den betroffenen Ländern stark: In Italien betrug die Sterblichkeitsquote Ende März 2020 über 12 %, in Deutschland näherte sich zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Sterblichkeit 1 % und stieg bis April 2020 auf 2,8 % (Fangerau und Labisch 2020, S. 28).
