Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der österreichisch-amerikanische Wirtschaftswissenschaftler Joseph Schumpeter hat den Begriff „Innovation“ als wirtschaftlich erfolgreiche Umsetzung einer neuen Idee definiert. Dieser Interpretation schließe ich mich aus Überzeugung an. Durch Forschung werden neue Ideen entwickelt. Deshalb ist Forschung wichtig – aber Innovation ist mehr – aus der Idee muss ein Produkt entstehen, und dieses muss sich auf dem Markt durchsetzen. Erst dann wird eine Idee zur Innovation. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass das in der Politik häufig übersehen wird und man vielmehr glaubt, allein durch die Unterstützung von Forschung die Innovation frei Haus geliefert zu bekommen. Aber das ist die Verwechselung von Invention mit Innovation.
