Abstract

Zusammenfassung Produktionssysteme sind nicht mehr so wie früher gestaltet. Das 21. Jahrhundert wird Unternehmen und produzierende Unternehmen mit völlig neuen Generationen von Technologien, Dienstleistungen und Produkten konfrontieren, die auf Computertechnologien basieren (Schuh und Gottschalk 2008; Schuh et al. 2009). Um dem Wettbewerb auf den globalen Märkten zu begegnen und langfristigen Erfolg zu gewährleisten, müssen sich die Unternehmen auf kürzere Lieferzeiten, zunehmende Produktvariabilität und hohe Marktvolatilität einstellen, damit Unternehmen sensibel und zeitnah auf kontinuierliche und unerwartete Veränderungen reagieren können (Wiendahl et al. 2007). Einer der wichtigsten Eckpfeiler zur Bewältigung dieser Herausforderungen ist die Implementierung digitaler Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in Produktionssysteme, -prozesse und -technologien, die neuartige Entwicklungen ermöglichen, indem sie die physische Welt mit schnellem Datenzugriff und Datenverarbeitung über das Internet kombinieren (Industrie 4.0).
