Abstract

Zusammenfassung Mit dem Ziel, menschliche Siedlungen effizienter, technologisch fortschrittlicher, grüner und sozial inklusiver zu gestalten, wird seit einigen Jahren zunehmend digitale Technologie im Prozess der Entwicklung von Städten und urbanen Strukturen eingesetzt. Man erhofft sich eine Lösung der wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und politischen Herausforderungen durch die neuen technologischen Möglichkeiten der technischen Vernetzung möglichst vieler Datenerzeugender und -verarbeitender Systeme sowie der Speicherung und Bereitstellung großer Datenmengen. So soll Vorhandenes mittels Informationstechnik besser genutzt werden. Dieser Beitrag skizziert die dazu notwendige Infrastruktur, auf die alle für den Bürger letztlich sichtbaren neuen Funktionen aufbauen.
