Abstract

Zusammenfassung Hervorgerufen durch lange Produktlebenszyklen von Investitionsgütern sehen sich Unternehmen vermehrt einer hohen Marktsättigung gegenüber, die mit einer wachsenden von auf dem Markt befindlichen Anzahl an Primärprodukten – auch als Installed Base (IB) bezeichnet – einhergeht. Dies bewirkt ein Umdenken hinsichtlich der strategischen Ausrichtung von Unternehmen (Greenough & Grubic, 2011, S. 1118). Auf wettbewerbs- und kundenorientierten Märkten ist es häufig nicht mehr das Ziel, ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal lediglich über die physischen Produkte zu generieren, sondern das Angebot um umfangreiche Services zu erweitern.
