Abstract

The starting point of this study was the question of how executives’ characteristics influence strategic decision making and firm performance in the context of research-based spin-off companies. This final chapter summarises and discusses the findings. Furthermore, several implications for future research in the areas of academic entrepreneurship and strategic management are outlined. Possible implications for politicians, academic institutions, investors, and research-based spin-off companies are discussed. Finally, this chapter discusses the study’s limitations and the most important conclusions that can be drawn from the study and the underlying empirical analysis.
