Abstract

This chapter provides a synopsis of the state of entrepreneurship in some Balkan countries. It is noted that entrepreneurial energy exists in the Balkans, but in some countries it is not properly channeled, it can result in activities that are undesirable for the state and its society. This chapter examines the bazaar, the firm-type economy, and a variety of forms of enterprise that exist in the parallel economy, including informal economic activity, internal economic activity with no transaction, and covert economic activity.
