Abstract

Internationale Nederlanden Groep N.V. (ING) was established in 1991 to provide globally integrated financial services. ING was incorporated in the Netherlands by the country’s largest insurance company and third largest bank, NMB PostBank Group. ING provides robust financial services, and is engaged in the banking, insurance, and asset management sectors in more than 50 countries around the world. Through its extensive global experience and over 115,000 employees, ING provides integrated financial services to more than 60 million customers internationally, including individuals, families, small and large businesses, organizations and government agencies. ING Group brands itself simply as ING to supply services. As of July 2006, ING ranked first among listed life insurance companies in the Fortune Global 500 rankings in terms of assets, earnings, and income, and ranked eighth in asset value. In April 2006, Global 2000 Forbes Magazine ranked ING 11th in terms of sales, profits, assets, and market capitalization. Finally, in August 2006 Business Week ranked ING 85th in its listing of “100 Major Global Brands”, with a brand valuation of approximately USD 3.474 billion.
