Abstract

We live in a distributed, networked economy, which is characterised by dynamic business relationships and is global in nature. Every single day, we as consumers hold products in our hands, often without being aware of the long route that they had travelled to reach us or the large number of business actors involved in their production and distribution. For example, a mobile phone can be designed in California, produced in Asia and destined for a customer in Europe; and shrimp from Europe is processed in Africa and returned to Europe for consumption. These are only two examples; however, the majority of the goods that we buy in stores are products of this global networked economy.
