Abstract

Efficiency and operational excellence in the DSD business depend heavily on the adequate IT support of the DSD business processes. There are a variety of IT vendors delivering solutions for all kinds of business processes; we can also find a lot of home-grown applications and even today many companies still perform their visit execution with paper-based processes. This chapter discusses today’s IT coverage of the DSD business processes and how future trends and challenges can be met. The collaboration of different IT vendors on a commonly agreed architecture will be a prerequisite for higher flexibility and adaptability, and a lower total cost of ownership.
