Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Management-Vordenker Charles Handy entwirft in seinem Buch „Die Fortschrittsfalle“ (Gabler 1995) im Zusammenhang mit der Behandlung von Paradoxien das „Doughnut-Prinzip“: „Der Doughnut — eine Art Berliner Pfannkuchen oder Krapfen-, um den es hier geht, ist von der amerikanischen Sorte, ein Ring aus Hefeteig mit einem Loch in der Mitte, nicht die britische, volle Version mit Marmelade in der Mitte. Das Doughnut-Prinzip verlangt einen verkehrten amerikanischen Doughnut, bei dem sich das Loch außen und der Teig in der Mitte befindet.“ Dieser gedankliche Doughnut ist zwar zum Essen recht wenig geeignet. Um so geeigneter ist er jedoch dafür, gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Zusammenhänge zu illustrieren. Handy geht es beim Doughnut-Prinzip grundsätzlich um die Darstellung des richtigen Verhältnisses von Verantwortlichkeit und Pflicht (dem Kern) und von Freiraum (dem Randbereich).
