Abstract

This case reveals the story of Coherent Labs, a fast-growing startup offering middleware technology and tools for game developers. Despite being founded by a team of only tech specialists, the company managed to attract early funding and successfully market and sell its product, reaching over US$1 million in revenue within just four years. Among the success factors are the long history of working together of the founders, the early introduction of effective decision-making processes and smart distribution of roles within the team, including coverage of the sales and marketing functions. Two interviews reveal two perspectives to the story of Coherent Labs—that of the founders and that of the investors in the young company.
