Abstract

This chapter presents a number of ideas that reflect an attempt to translate sport technology practice into theory and research suggestions. By linking what is happening in sport practice to research it can bring more meaningful research suggestions and present a new perspective on sport technology innovation. In addition, the chapter provides a framework useful for analyzing a sport organization’s influence on technology innovation and for guiding future research. As there has been little cross-knowledge fertilization between sport management and technology innovation research, I believe it is time to close this gap by providing a more linked research path. Thus, this chapter aims to enhance our understanding of the way sport firms may or may not contribute to technology innovation. By doing so, I attempt to dig into the effect of technology innovation and context on sport firm performance.
