Abstract

F&V, olive oil and aquaculture are three very dynamic and export-oriented agri-food chains. F&V exhibit a high seasonality, which is due to natural conditions as well as high demand during the summer months due to tourismTourism . Stone fruits exports are depended on eastern Europe and Russian market, and have suffered greatly from the Russian embargo. Greece is a major producer of aquaculture in the EU, but the industry undergoes a creditCredit crunch. Olive oil has a great potential, but currently is exported bulk and at low prices. The examples exemplify the need for a new paradigm which will take advantage of the complexity of the Greek agri-food industry.
