Abstract

This final chapter’s primary goal is to demonstrate how empirical models may be constructed using the data sources listed along with the data presented in this book. To do this, a model to access the various drivers of profitability of firms in the service sector is presented. The chapter is structured into four sections. First, the logic of the model is presented briefly using the strategic management framework along with its theoretical underpinnings. Second, the variables in each model are presented, along with the expected relationships. Third, the specific empirical methodologies used in the testing of the relationships and the sample used are discussed. Fourth, the results of the study as well as the supplemental analysis and design constraints are presented before closing.
