Abstract

This chapter discusses elements of international logistics, reverse logistics, transportation infrastructure, warehousing, and operations management explaining through contemporary business models and best practices. Logistics 4.0 in the context of advancing technology, robotics, and engagement of artificial intelligence is also discussed in this chapter. This chapter brings together supply chain management, lean management, and logistics by using real-world examples to explain the theory of logistics. Discussion in this chapter is focused to unveil underlying challenges and strategies related to design and operational integration of logistics within a global supply chain. Preparation for exports and imports by the international trade firms is discussed in this chapter with specific reference export documentation, international commerce terminology, and methods of receiving payment. This chapter discusses the documents required for exporting and importing.
