Abstract

In a way that is not always explicit, the ideal of the homo oeconomicus is spreading even within school walls: a kind of economization centred in the neoliberal ideal is taking possession of educational systems, and if we go in search of the red thread that guides this process, we will find that it fits within the model of “human capital”. It is up to pedagogical and sociological thought to question itself in order to help stem the rise of the ideology of an economic system, as the neoliberalist one has become, which over the years is leaving out issues related to community or collective values that are important in order to restore centrality to people in their relational and social dimensions.
