Abstract

This study used data collection, analysis, synthesis, cartographic methods, field survey methods, and expert consultation methods to determine the scientific basis of environmental protection content in the planning of Thua Thien Hue Province. The results showed that Thua Thien Hue has diverse biological resources, concentrated in Bach Ma National Park, Phong Dien Nature Reserve, Sao La Conservation Area, the biodiversity corridor connecting Phong Dien Nature Reserve and Saola Reserve, and the Tam Giang and Cau Hai wetland conservation areas. The province has six concentrated solid waste treatment zones, the most unhygienic, and three meteorological monitoring stations. Based on an analysis of sensitive factors to environmental pollution, Thua Thien Hue Province is divided into three regions (the strict protection zone accounts for 20.8%, the emission-restricted area accounts for 43.32%, and other areas account for 35.9% of the province’s area), eight sub-regions, and 73 environmental sub-regions. The research results are the basis for proposing environmental protection options in Thua Thien Hue Province.
