Abstract

It is impossible to contest that people’s actions have had a substantial impact on the environment. In recent decades there has been a rise in knowledge of the enormous environmental changes brought on by productive activities, even though this understanding is the consequence only of recent developments. The case of the former Ilva of Taranto requires consideration of the dangers that certain processes can cause to all citizens and, conversely, also the dangers that a degraded environment can cause to workers themselves. However, sometimes only true environmental catastrophes have attracted attention to this issue.
