Abstract

Thanks to technological advancements and implementations, tourism-related businesses may now provide superior products and services globally, boost their functionality, and access a more comprehensive demographic. This study aimed to look into the issues of human resources and technology and how they interact for the benefit of the tourism sector. The study employed a qualitative research design to collect in-depth data. The target population comprised managers and supervisors (47), with census sampling being used. An interview schedule was used to manage the primary data. The collected data was analysed through narration and presented in themes and sub-themes. The study revealed that employees and management had negative attitudes about technology usage; for instance, they were concerned about job loss or a low return on investment. The study further revealed strategies to treat employees’ and managers’ fears through training and involvement. Additionally, the study noted a number of available technologies that can be used in the tourism industry and the challenges of their implementation. It was also established that HR-specific issues, such as high employee turnover and seasonal workforce management, had to be taken care of. Finally, the study underscored the importance of technology for things like increased efficiency and cost savings. In conclusion, it was established that human resource factors must be considered before employing technology in the tourism sector.
