Abstract

Zusammenfassung Während der 1980er und 1990er Jahre hat der Liberalisierungsprozess in vielen Volkswirtschaften weltweit die Schaffung eines neuen integrierten globalen Produktionssystems erleichtert. Dieses Kapitel bietet einen Überblick über dieses neue globale Produktionssystem, das die konzeptionelle Landschaft von Geschlecht, Arbeit und Beschäftigungsbedingungen neu geformt hat. Es untersucht, wie die neoliberale Wirtschaftsideologie, die die Organisation der globalen Produktion untermauert, zu Transformationen auf den Arbeitsmärkten geführt hat. Diese Transformationen wurden von allen Gesellschaften der Welt erfahren, obwohl es Variationen in der Art und dem Ausmaß der Erfahrung gibt. Das Kapitel wird von zwei Hauptfragen geleitet: Wie hat das neue globale Produktionssystem das Geschlechtermuster von Arbeit und Beschäftigung geprägt? Was sind die Ergebnisse dieser Transformationen für die Arbeitnehmer, insbesondere für weibliche Heimarbeiterinnen im Globalen Süden? Wir argumentieren in diesem Kapitel, dass die Dominanz des neoliberalen Wirtschaftsdiskurses und das Bestreben der Unternehmen, risikoarme Strategien und Praktiken zu verfolgen, um das Risiko von der Firma wegzuschieben, einige der breiteren Trends sind, die das Geschlechtermuster von Arbeit und Beschäftigungsbedingungen neu geformt haben.
