Abstract

In this chapter we explore the analytical category “Dealing with the nature of the academic and manager relationship”, which represents the clay cauldron in the framework, the element that gives a special flavor to the broth (contextualizing elements) in chemical transformation with food (academic manager’s path). We take into account elements such as teaching contributing to management and vice-versa, research contributing to management, and the weight of the interaction between manager and professor. Within this context, we conclude by recommending some ways to identify opportunities, challenges, and initiatives regarding academic managers’ constitution of skills, attitudes, and behaviors. We also present some guidelines associated to academic manager’s knowing and learning.
