Abstract

Innovation is change. Change that generates value. Change can be of different nature—e.g., technological, social, organisational, cultural; value(s) generated by such changes can be of different natures too—e.g., financial, economic, social, personal, organisational, educational, institutional, societal. Often—but not necessarily—enabled by and / or rooted in technology, innovation is a socio-anthropological phenomenon that has characterised human lives since its appearance. Scholars and practitioners have conceived—and acted upon—innovation as a process, a strategy as well as an attitude of mind, a posture towards reality. Connecting distant disciplinary domains to gain a novel perspective may help develop the basis for a grammar of innovation.
