Abstract

This chapter examines the Tellow Manor Farm accounting records (1810–1819) for the Seven Field System of Land cultivation. The output and cost calculations with the Tellow Manor Accounts showed that the replacement of the 3 - Field system with 7 - Field system would increase production (output) by 83 pct. and increase Land Rents by 52 pct. The chapter shows the connection between cost calculations in business economics/accounting (Betriebswirtschaft/Kostenrechnung) and costs/prices in macro-/microeconomics (Nationalökonomie). The Tellow quantitative agricultural model of 7-Field cultivation system serves as a benchmark for comparing/evaluating in Denmark and England the corresponding agricultural output and land rent increases. The agricultural cultivation reforms, 1760–1800, were very successful (“revolutions”), breaking economic stagnation and the population (“Malthusian”) barrier.
