Abstract

In keeping with the goal of this Handbook, we begin this chapter by telling our unique stories to establish how racism has touched the spaces we occupy. A master narrative has dominated conversations about the reality of racism, disguising and silencing its injurious effects. It is only through stories of racial injustices sustained by victims that the reality of racism can be brought to life. Next, we discuss critical human resource development: as a paradigm that explains social forces that can inhibit learning and performance for BIPOC people. Finally, we offer implications for the field of human resource development (HRD) with an emphasis on HRD practice.
